I like the way she has [...]

I was greeting friends on Twitter this morning, when a ‘tweet’ came through from another WAHM (work at home mom) about a post she’d made on her blog, Relaxed Homeschooling. She has all kinds of great information on her site for homeschoolers and for all of us parents, really! I like the way she has her book recommendations split up into age groups and I really appreciate all the resources that she provides.

And I’m so very glad I saw the blog post she tweeted, Virtual Fieldtrips! She’s telling us about a really great site! And it’s called, surprisingly enough, Virtual Field Trips. This site is so totally cool, you guys! You have to go check it out! And I’ve only gone on one ‘field trip’ so far, and I’m already this excited!

Here is my favorite quote/explanation of what they do from their front page.

Virtual Field Trips…

…will turn web browsing into a goal-oriented educational experience.

Don’t you just love that?

The site is divided up by subjects, and I explored one site in the Math section. The site helped me to dig deeper into the Bureau of Engraving and Printing website, and see things I might have otherwise overlooked. They also provide lesson plans and activities with each site/field trip. There were even scavenger hunt questions, divided up by grade level, going from Kindergarten to 12th grade.

I think the kids and I will be spending plenty of time on this site, for sure! And I’ll be adding it to my sidebar here at Bookworm Broadcast, for all of us to remember it!

Thanks so much for the ‘tweeted tip’, Annette! That site is a true gem!

(And we all know living in Dallas automatically scores points with me right off the bat!) Dave offers all kinds of Parenting help and advice, often leaning on the financial side of things, like teaching our kids about work and financial responsibility.

While Dave does talk a lot about money and finances, he also addresses many other aspects of parenting. And personally, I think just the links he’s gathered in his sidebar are an invaluable resource! That is why his blog is definitely going in my sidebar here at The Bookworm Broadcast!

You will find all kinds of information at Chores & Allowances – from back to school checklists, to protecting families against identity theft, to great websites for kids! And if you know me, you know how much I love worksheets – one of the sections in his sidebar is devoted to just worksheets! Watch out kids, mom found a new list of worksheet sites!

This is definitely a blog that I want to keep up with!
She amassed way too much scrapbooking stuff and she has decided to share the wealth with the lovely blogosphere! I think that’s totally awesome! All you have to do to be entered to win is to blog about her contest, or put a pretty graphic in your sidebar like I’ve done! This scrapbooking contest would be so totally awesome to win! I guess you can tell I’m excited about all of these goodies, huh?

And the graphic for the contest is just so darn cute, too!
It is a super-cool, get the learners involved method of teaching! The teacher teaches by asking questions, leading the learners where they need to get to understand the concepts. The learners generally end up excited, and impressed with themselves for figuring out the answers. It is a way of learning that, I believe, can cement ideas in people’s brains! It is discovery and learning all at once!

My groovy friend, Cass, added me and my Bookworm blog to this content-centric, parenting sites blogroll. What a cool thing – and how cool of her to include me! I’ve been insufferably slow keeping the thing moving, but, I’m working hard trying to get myself caught up today! Now – if you would like to get involved, just copy everything below and change it up a little to add in your own picks of parenting blogs, then write an intro. paragraph – and presto! That’s all there is to it! Thanks a lot for including me, Cass!

1. Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and link back to the blog that put you on the list in the paragraph. This isn’t a suggestion. You need to break up the duplicate content string. Someone took the time to add you so the least you can do is give them an extra linkback.
2. Copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your blog. If you would like a different keyword for your blog then change it when you do your post and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword.

3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the “Originals” list.
4. Add no more than 5 new parenting or (Mommy/Daddy) blogs to the list in the “My Adds” section.
