101-dalmationsSammie and I were so excited to watch the newest release from Disney of one of our favorite movies – 101 Dalmatians (Two-Disc Platinum Edition)! We both just really love this movie! And with this edition, we get to not only enjoy one of our favorite movies, but, we get to learn all kinds of background and history of the movie in all its renditions! I love learning all that goes into movies and learning all that stuff from the 60′s gives me such nostalgic feelings! I wasn’t born until 1970, but, so many of the shows and movies we watched in the 70′s were made in the 50′s and 60′s. So it takes me right back to my childhood. It is so fascinating to me, though, to see what all goes into making a movie. And it is all that much more fascinating with animated films, because, of the unbelievable amount of work that goes into it, as well as the creative work-arounds that are come up with, such as how they animated the cars in the film, giving even them distinct personalities!

Donkey Ollie is a new video series that is aimed at helping kids be the best people that they can be. One of its major goals is to tune out all of the negative forces our kids are faced with every single day. It is a really cute series about a Donkey who is traveling through Jerusalem in Jesus’ time. The DVD’s are given out completely free, and this is done by generous donations of cars and money and I think even boats! What a cool program! Donkey Ollie is geared towards little kids, although the whole family may enjoy watching, but, CarDonation.com also makes positive and uplifting videos for teens. They have given away over 2.4 million of all their videos! That is so cool! If you’ve got an old junker in your back yard, you can make a car donation and help raise the spirits of some of our nation’s youngsters! I think this is a really cool idea. We had some organization in Dallas that took car donations and I think it was for a troubled children’s home. That’s all good stuff – people coming together to positively influence the life of a child! Here is one of their cute Donkey Ollie videos for you to enjoy!

What a sweet child I have! My husband took the three kids to the pawn shop to shop for movies – at $3 a pop, you can’t beat that! They had so much fun – and they all came home with big stacks of movies!

My middle son, though, comes over to me and hands me a movie that he bought just for me! Awww! Isn’t that nice? And it isn’t just any old movie, either – it’s a classic! He brought me Heidi with Maximilian Schell! That will be fun to watch. I love watching old movies, and old family-centered movies are great to watch with the kids.

And then, of course, we’ll have to get the book and read it! We are a bunch of bookworms, after all! ;)

This is so cool, ya’ll! I have got to get this for my kiddos for Christmas!

My kids used to love the Choose Your Own Adventure books – I don’t think they’ve read one in a long time, but, I am pretty sure with the new element of it’s being a movie – they would really love it!

The movie is The Abominable Snowman and there are more than 11 possible endings!

Oh! And I just heard Frankie Muniz’s voice on the main website – the kids love him!

This is so exciting – even I used to love these books when I was a kid! Or at least this type – not sure if it was the exact same thing. The bonus features are cool, too – my favorite being:

“In the Shadows of the Himalayas: How People Live in Nepal”, a 28-minute documentary for kids and their families.

Making education both fun and interesting – that’s what it’s all about!!

Oh, and how’s this for a great tagline: ‘More than a movie, it’s an adventure!’ –I love it!

I’m sorry this is so disjointed, there are just so many great things to tell you about it, that I am spoutin’ off like an excited eight year old! Heehee!

The next movies they are going to come out with are “The Lost Jewels” and “The Mystery of the Maya”.

You can go to the main site and get on their mailing list and sign up for the sweepstakes to win a signed-by-one-of-the-stars copy of the DVD!

This is just too cool – and I never thought I’d have such a ‘bookish’ excitement over a movie, but, this is good stuff!

Ok – now get to the website and check out all they have to offer (games, coloring pages, etc!):

And if you choose to buy, I’d love it if you shopped through my link!
