Great resource site for parenting and more

I was just reading this cool site that if chock full of resources for all parts of our lives! The site is called The Resources Center, and their tag line is Resources for Life, Business, and Education.

And, of course, my favorite section is their section on parenting. They have some really great articles in there. The first of these that really caught my eye is How To: Family Summer Day Trip, as this is extremely relevant to our family right now. We are going to a canyon with beautiful water falls tomorrow that is about an hour away from here! Talk about perfect timing for me to read this article! I really like the parts about logging it and journaling it!

And you guys all know I love kids’ crafts! I send new ones out every month with my mail – and I almost always do them first with my own daughter! So this article – Five Summer Activities and Crafts For Kids and Parents – is just right up my alley! They have some really special and fun crafts and activities listed.

Don’t forget, though, that this is a resource site for life! They have information for business, career, travel, shopping, health, life, successful relationships and more! They are an educational outreach of the Kamaron Institute.

Scratch – computer programming for kids!

This is so amazingly cool, I am so excited about it! It’s called Scratch, and it comes from MIT! You can have your munchkins working on a program out of MIT – totally awesome! Well, yes, the fact that it is from MIT is really super-cool, but, the really amazing part about it is that children can write their own computer programs without learning a bunch of very complicated computer languages! I read about it in the back of one of my mom’s magazines, I think it was Discover or something similar. And I just couldn’t wait to get home and try it out! I am looking at the website right now, but, I haven’t signed up yet. But I just couldn’t wait to tell you about it! So everyone go get signed up, and we can meet back here later and share our experiences! Okay?

NOW GO READ A BOOK (or an MIT webpage!) ;)

Surfing the Net with Kids

The first newsletter that I want to tell you about that I receive and just absolutely love is from Surfing the Net with Kids by Barbara J. Feldman, otherwise known as SurfNetKids.com. The site is chock full of website reviews for kids, teachers, and families. If you sign up for the newsletter, you will receive Barbara’s educational website recommendations in your email every week. I thoroughly enjoy reading the newsletter every week and I think you will really like it, too!

Another cool feature to the site is the daily widgets – I have been meaning to put one on the Bookworm Broadcast for a while now, but, you know how life gets busy! So, finally – today I put the Daily Factoid widget in the left sidebar – you should see it show up shortly. Sometimes Wordpress is a little slow to show my updates.
