Are you guys ready for the second half of the story? Gather your kids around and let’s hear what happened when George woke up the next morning…

You know the George Washington coloring page that I told you about yesterday? Well, I colored one myself – and I had fun doing it! Coloring is good for the soul, I tell you! I think it turned out pretty nicely, too:

I colored it and then I cut out around the edges and put it on some pretty blue paper! I’m thinking of adding an American flag and a cherry tree to it, too! I’ll let you know if I do. If you and your kids want to color it and send it to me, via email, I’d be happy to showcase your picture here on the blog!

It’s finally time for Bookworm Storytime again! This time it’s a little different than we’re used to, because, I’m trying out my new webcam, and I’m also only reading half the story. It’s a longer story than the others I’ve read, so you will have to tune in tomorrow for the second half of the story.

The story I’m reading is ‘George Washington and the Cherry Tree’ and it comes from a book called, “Best Loved Children’s Stories”. I couldn’t find it on Amazon, so I can’t share the link with you this time. I’ve been talking about history around here lately, because, of some great movies that I’ve been watching. And one of the cool things I talked about recently was a secret basement and tunnel under George Washington’s home, Mount Vernon. So I thought a story about George Washington would be fun to read.

Silly me! I forgot the bonus!

What bonus, you ask? The bonus still-shot I took for you guys when I read the Paddington book! Hahaha! You see, my ‘mess’ was so funny, that I thought a good still-shot was definitely called for! You can even see the glop of soap stuck to the top rim of my glasses! Making messes is just fun – seriously, ask your kids!! They’ll tell you all about it! And so will this big, overgrown kid!

And now, here’s Mrs. Lisa’s mess:

Don’t I just look so lovely? Don’t forget to show your kids! The funny thing was, I worried (a teeny, tiny bit) when acting out that book, that people would say, ‘Oh great, Lisa, thanks a lot! Now my kid wants to pour all toothpaste, soap, and baby powder on himself, too!’ But then, when my daughter first watched the video, she said, ‘Mom! Now all the little kids are gonna want to put their hats in the bath!’ Haha! Of course, by that point, she hadn’t yet seen my sloppy mess!

Storytime – Just A Secret

Oh boy, are you guys in for a treat today! Here’s what happened – my camera battery went dead and so I wasn’t able to read you a book today, myself. And I knew I had seen some good book-readers on YouTube before so, I went looking to see what I could find for you! And man, oh man! Did I find something good!

The book that will be read is one of the Little Critters™ books called Just a Secret by Mercer Mayer. My kids and I used to love Mercer Mayer books – we read them all the time! Well, guess who is reading that book for you today …..none other than …dun dun dun … *drumroll please*

….Mercer Mayer himself!! How super mega cool is that?! I just love it! Tune in, kids, here he is:

Wasn’t that a great story – read by a wonderful reader? I really enjoyed the way that he ‘acted’ out parts of the story – he’s my kind of reader!

Storytime – Paddington Takes a Bath

Ok, you guys – you know what time it is! It’s time for Mrs. Lisa to read another book to your sweet little bookworms! And this week I pulled a book out of my super-special-uber-precious-mommy-stash to share with your little ones. I think they’re gonna have a great time laughing at with me this time! If there’s one thing I’m good at – it’s the goofiness! So let’s just get on with it, shall we?

Storytime – What Makes a Rainbow?

It’s time for our second installment of Bookworm Storytime! This is fun – I’m having fun making these videos! I hope your kids enjoy watching them. Let me try to explain why this is so cool for me. When you order a My Very Own Mail package from me for your child, I do my very best to talk ‘to them’ in my letters. And I very much enjoy that, but, it’s not the same as if they were with me. And sometimes I find myself trying to explain something or convey something in the letters that would just work better in person. Do you know what I mean?

So in making these videos, the surprising thing for me has been that I am loving getting to really talk to your kids! It is so cool! I knew I wanted to do this on the blog for a while, and I knew it would be neat for you and your kids and maybe even for me, but, I just didn’t realize that it would satisfy the urge I have to really communicate with ‘my bookworms’! So that rocks! And I think I’ll be doing it for a while, whether it goes over big or not, simply to fulfill that need that I have!

This week’s book is called What Makes a Rainbow? by Betty Ann Schwartz and my reading of it is dedicated to a special six year old girl – JK’s daughter!

Storytime – Snoopy’s Friends

I’m going to try something new around here. We’ll just see how it goes. We might just all have a blast with this! I am going to be reading books to your little sweeties on video! This first book I’m reading is for your itty bitty kids – your preschoolers. My kids used to love this book! You can tell in this picture how much they loved it from its wear and tear.

Snoopy’s Friends/Board Book
The quality of the video gets downgraded when you upload to YouTube, so I’m afraid the kids might not be able to see the pages as well as I would’ve liked. I’m going to definitely have to do some research on that and see if I can make that better.

And now, without further ado, Snoopy’s Friends/Board Book ….

And just for an extra special treat for our “Storytime Grand Opening”, we’ve got a goofy teenager reading the book, too! Who knows, your kids just might like his version better than mine!

I’m going to try and aim for a little bit older of a crowd with my next book! I’ve got a special six year old girl in mind! I’ll have to go digging in Sammie’s room and see what fun books I can find!
